Opportunity is Brewing!

The Texas Craft Brewers Guild’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Subcommittee invites you to a regional career fair to explore jobs and career pathways in the craft brewing industry in our state. This in-person career fair is aimed at attracting talented candidates who may not think of the craft beer industry when considering career opportunities, and creating an inviting and approachable experience to look at craft breweries in a whole new light. Come get to know the breweries and find out what employment opportunities might await you in the industry!

ABOUT THE CAREER FAIR

The event will take place Wednesday, January 26, from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at Hop & Sting Brewery in Grapevine, Texas. When the brewery opens its taproom to the public at 3:00pm, we'll begin a casual Happy Hour to allow everyone to mix and mingle over refreshments. Hop & Sting has also generously offered to provide brewery tours for those who are interested!

Due to space constraints, jobseekers must RSVP. Only 100 jobseekers will be admitted between 1:00pm and 3:00pm, and capacity will remain limited during the happy hour in compliance with standard fire safety requirements. This event is for jobseekers who are 18 years of age or older.

Can't attend in person? Check out the Texas Craft Beer Industry Job Board for career opportunities across the state.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I've just RSVP'd, what should I plan to bring?

Jobseekers only need to bring yourself and your interest in careers in the craft brewing industry! You may choose to bring resumes or cards to indicate your interest in particular jobs or at particular businesses, but many businesses only accept applications online, so consider that in your preparation.

My availability is limited - do I need to be there the whole time?

Not at all! When you RSVP, you are free to use the time as you see fit to accomplish as much as you'd like toward your jobseeking goals. Please note that capacity inside is limited to 100 jobseekers. Depending on weather and health and safety considerations, we may be able to allow more folks to attend. Please stay tuned to the event page for updates.

Do I need to really like beer and drink a lot of it to work in this industry?

Not at all! Even if you prefer other beverages or don't drink alcohol at all, we hope you'll consider a career in craft brewing. Jobs at breweries include far more than working in the brewhouse (brewing the beer). Breweries are small, local businesses that need diverse teams of professionals with a variety of backgrounds, skillsets, and interests to fill a variety of functions like office managers, accountants, sales personnel, general managers, marketing professionals, data analysts, facilities managers, drivers, packaging technicians, and lots more! Not to mention the job opportunities at all the businesses that serve and support craft brewers and the retailers that sell craft beer...

What's more, breweries in Texas are regulated by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission and standard employment law, which set rules about how employees interact with alcohol at their place of work. While specific policies may differ from brewery to brewery, it is never legal to become intoxicated or abuse alcohol at your workplace either on or off the clock. Responsible consumption is a basic expectation of craft beer professionals.

Can I attend if I'm not 21?

Yes. As long as you are over the age of 18 and earnestly seeking a job you are welcome to attend. Employment policies may vary, but many breweries have front-of-house and back-of-house jobs that are open to candidates 18+. Please also keep in mind that there may be job opportunities represented at the event that are restricted to candidates 21+. During the Happy Hour, bartenders will be checking IDs as they do during normal operation, so attendees who are under 21 or without valid identification should not expect to be served alcoholic beverages.

Is on-site registration available?

Possibly! If RSVPs are still available on this page on the day of the event, it means we have not reached capacity. Please do RSVP as soon as you know you are able to attend, even if it's the same day, so we can manage the capacity of the event and help you follow up with potential employers.

The page says the event is at capacity. Can I still attend?

Only registered attendees may enter between 1:00pm and 3:00pm. However, Hop and Sting will open to the public at 3pm so you are welcome to to come after then, though you may miss out on attendee beverage pricing and other benefits associated with registration.
